Delegates from Samar State University (SSU) SAGWAN program benchmarked Tarlac State University-Office of Gender and Development’s (OGAD) best practices on Tuesday (October 7) held at the TSU Business Center audio-visual room.
The SSU Advocacy on Gender and Women Advancement for National Development was led by SAGWAN Director Dr. Charmaine Quina, who exchanged knowledge with TSU OGAD Director Dr. Rita Pulmano regarding the gender mainstreaming, policy formulation, and program implementation.
During the open forum, SSU GAD focal persons asked about the integration of GAD in institutional planning, budgeting, and administrative processes at TSU. They also inquired about the university’s approaches to embedding gender sensitivity into academic programs, research and extension initiatives, campus policies, and facilities.
Dr. Pulmano highlighted key initiatives, including the university’s comprehensive GAD organizational structure and its strategic efforts to mainstream gender equality across all departments. She also discussed how TSU incorporates gender sensitivity training for newly hired employees and the promotion of inclusive spaces on campus.
SSU delegates were toured around the TSU OGAD, GAD-integrated academic departments, and other institutional spaces designed to support gender-responsive programs and promote safety and inclusivity for all community members.
Meanwhile, Atty. Gherold C. Benitez, Vice President for Administration welcomed the SSU delegates and reaffirmed TSU’s commitment to fostering an equitable and inclusive environment.
